PLANT CITY – The Futch family will open their ranch for the next two weekends for the second annual Sunflowers on the Ranch.
Their Single R Ranch at 3002 N. Charlie Taylor Road is covered in acres of sunflowers and brightly colored zinnias that visitors can wander through. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and May 7 and 8.
Family spokeswoman Janet Futch said the first Sunflowers on the Ranch was a big hit.
“People liked coming out and spending a day on the ranch. We liked having them here. We like it when they come out and have fun,” she said.
Besides the flowers, there’s also concessions for sale featuring such foods as pulled pork, lemonade, kettle corn and boiled peanuts. Arts and crafts vendors will have booths selling merchandise, and the family owned Ranch Store has an eclectic selection.
The family first started opening its ranch to the public in 2012 when it sponsored its first Fox Squirrel Corn Maze. The spring event was added because the public seemed to love coming to the ranch.
She said the family members enjoy hosting the crowds and try to get to know them.
“We are all very much hands on. By the time they leave, we have talked to each of them,” she said.
There will be a professional photographer available by appointment only although the schedule is filling up fast. To make a photography appointment or for other information email [email protected]
Admission is $8 for adults and $7 for children; kids 2 and younger are admitted free. The parking fee is $1.
