Plant City pizza shop celebrates milestone anniversary

PLANT CITY A pizza shop that doesn’t try to compete with the chains is celebrating a decade in business.

Nick’s Pizzaria & Wings is offering $10 off any orders of $50 or more through the end of April to mark the landmark occasion.

Jim Sparks, who has owned the shop for the last four years, said “it’s been an honor to serve the Plant City community.”

There has been a 100 percent increase in business since Sparks took over ownership of the shop at 1707 James L. Redman Parkway.

Sparks cites a number of factors, including buying his produce from a local farmers market to ensure its freshness and the use of a reverse osmosis filter system for the water used to make the dough. The dough rises better and has more flavor in the crust, he said.

Nick’s is revered for its wings, selling about 3,000 per week and also makes all of its 15 sauces. The restaurants also serves sandwiches, salads and appetizers.

Nick’s has dine-in service with approximately 30 seats, carryout, delivery and catering.
