PLANT CITY – Some of the East Hillsborough Art Guild’s best works are on display this month at Bruton Memorial Library.
The larger paintings, including portraits and landscapes, are on display on the south wall of the library at 302 W. McLendon St. Miniature paintings are in a glass case to the right of the library’s entrance.
Nancy Driscoll, chairman of the exhibit for the art guild, said the works were created by 14 different artists. Some of the artists painted their works specifically for the library show.
“I told them do whatever they thought were their best works. They worked hard on them,” Driscoll said.
The guild has been displaying art at the library for at least five years, she said. The display includes information about how to join the guild and under each painting is a little about each artist.
The guild started as the Plant City Art Club about 30 years ago. In 1992, the organization’s name was changed to the East Hillsborough Art Guild.
The guild has other two or three art shows during the year, including its largest, at the Florida Strawberry Festival, Driscoll said.
