PLANT CITY Kacie Booth of Polk State College, a former star at Plant City High School, was recently named the NJCAA Region 8/FCSAA Softball Player of the Week.

Booth, a sophomore shortstop and 2014 Plant City High graduate, batted .571 (8-for-14) with seven runs scored, two doubles, one home run (.929 slugging percentage), four RBIs and four stolen bases in four games in early April. She led the Eagles to a 3-1 record.

Booth had two hits in both games of a doubleheader vs. South Florida State going 4-for-7, including a home run in the second game.

She went 4-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs in game one vs. Hillsborough. The player of the week honors are the latest accomplishment for the former Raider.

In 2015, she was named to the First Team All-Conference and helped lead Polk State to second place in the Suncoast Conference and a spot in the state softball tournament.

Booth has signed a letter of intent to play softball and continue her academic career at Rollins College in Winter Park starting in the fall. She is majoring in psychology.
