TAMPA ó The Hillsborough Area Regional Transit Authority has appointed a temporary leader to steer the agency while it hunts for a replacement for its departing chief executive officer.
HARTís board of directors on Monday tapped its chief financial officer, Jeffrey Seward, to serve as interim CEO while the agency conducts a national search to replace Katherine Eagan. Last month, she announced plans to leave the agency to serve as CEO of the Port Authority of Allegheny County, Pa. Her last day is Jan. 5.
Seward joined HART as its CFO in 2011. He previously served as chief financial planning officer of Sarasota County.
"His 31 years of experience in local government, private-sector and military experience makes him the perfect fit, and his already strong knowledge of HART and plans for the future of the agency will help ensure a smooth transition period for the agency," county Commissioner and HART board member Les Miller said in a statement.
