Tampa airport hires newspaper reporter as communications chief
TAMPA - Tampa International Airport's chief executive Joe Lopano filled a newly created director of communications position by hiring St. Petersburg Times reporter Janet Zink at an annual salary of $110,000, officials said Monday. Zink will work with the media as spokeswoman for the Hillsborough County Aviation Authority, the role currently filled by Brenda Geoghagan, who will become director of public affairs. Geoghagan will retain her $107,000 annual salary and continue to supervise special events and community relations. "Having (Zink's) extensive expertise and knowledge in-house will allow us to decrease our reliance on consultants," Lopano said in a statement.
