TAMPA - A homicide victim found lying alongside Dale Mabry Highway and Busch Boulevard on Friday afternoon has been identified as Michael Andrew Montalbano, 34, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said.
Investigators said only that Montalbano suffered from upper body trauma.
In a news release Saturday morning, the Sheriff's Office canceled an alert issued earlier for a vehicle they were seeking in connection with the death.
In a news release Friday, the Sheriff's Office had described the victim as a 24-year-old man and said the death stemmed from an incident that started in an apartment complex about a mile to the southeast at 8505 Lincoln Cove Dr., the address of Lake Azzure Apartments.
Deputies arrived at Dale Mabry and Busch about 2:40 p.m. Friday to find paramedics treating a man found lying in the roadway next to a gray Volkswagen Jetta, the Sheriff's Office said. He was later pronounced dead.
