Police: North Tampa woman fatally stabs live-in boyfriend

TAMPA — A Tampa woman faces a charge of second-degree murder in the stabbing death of her live-in boyfriend early Wednesday morning.

Police, responding to a report of a stabbing at 1203 E Chilkoot Avenue around 1:30 a.m., found 24-year-old Justin Lee Tyler Williams with a life-threatening wound. He later died at a local hospital.

Police said his live-in-girlfriend, 24-year-old Johnetta Shephard, made incriminating statements during an interview, and she was arrested later in the morning.

Police said the stabbing did not appear to be related to any other investigations.

It comes a day after Interim Police Chief Brian Dugan announced two fatal shootings in southeast Seminole Heights last week are linked, prompting him to tell residents there to not walk alone.

Police also are investigating a suspicious death at a residence at 2335 W Nassau St. in West Tampa late Tuesday night. Police say that incident also is likely an isolated incident.
