FHP seeks New Port Richey hit-and-run driver who left man severely injured

NEW PORT RICHEY — Police are searching for the driver of a vehicle that left a New Port Richey man seriously injured after a hit and run Sunday evening, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

Randy Pearson, 58, tried to walk across State Road 54, west of Pensdale Drive about 7:40 p.m. when he stepped into the path of an unknown vehicle.

The car struck Pearson, then fled the scene. Pearson was taken to Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point, troopers said.
