SPRING HILL — A Palm Harbor man was arrested Saturday after Hernando deputies said he drunkenly pulled his convertible into a driveway, went inside a home and used the toilet.
Daniel Alfred Jenk, 40, faces charges of burglary, driving under the influence and fleeing police, according to the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office.
Here’s what deputies said happened:
Before dawn Saturday morning, a man living on Jena Road in Spring Hill awoke to find Jenk coming through his front door. The intruder had shown up in a silver two-door convertible.
Jenk, deputies said, told the man he had to use the bathroom.
When the homeowner started asking questions, Jenk ignored him and walked to the home’s restroom, deputies said. Nearby, two children were in their bedrooms.
Jenk used the toilet, flushed it and left, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Outside the home, the responding deputy noticed marks on the concrete leading away from the scene — scratches from the rims of Jenk’s car, the officer believed.
So the deputy followed them.
About three miles away, the deputy found Jenk and arrested him. In an interview afterward, Jenk told deputies he did not remember the incident because he was drunk.
Jenk was booked into the Hernando County jail about 5 a.m. that day and was released that night after posting $21,000 bail.
