Pinellas Park man tries to stop people breaking into his car, is shot in arm

PINELLAS PARK — A man saw people trying to break into his vehicle and chased them away, before one of the attempted burglars shot him in the arm, police said.

Alexander Weaver, 28, was at his home on the 6200 block of 106th Avenue N early Sunday morning, according to the Pinellas Park Police Department.

About 1:15 a.m., Weaver saw at least three people breaking into his vehicle, police reported. He confronted the people, who he told police were male and, he believed, minors.

He chased one of them about a block to Oakhaven Drive, where the person pulled out a gun and shot Weaver, who suffered a non-life threatening injury. The gun was not taken from Weaver’s car, police said.

Police did not give further descriptions of the suspected burglars.
