CLEARWATER — Two Brandon men were hospitalized Tuesday night after they lost control of their car and crashed into trees on the south end of the Bayside Bridge, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
At 8:15 p.m., 19-year-old Coi Jenkins was driving a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse southbound on the Bayside Bridge, nearing Roosevelt Boulevard. Troopers said he failed to make a right turn, causing the car to rotate, cut through the median across lanes of traffic and crash into trees on the shoulder.
Jenkins and passenger Travis Wilfong, 20, were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Jenkins has serious injuries, trooper said, and Wilfong is listed in critical condition.
Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, troopers said.
