St. Petersburg teen, seven months pregnant, dies in Pasco crash

HUDSON — A 16-year-old St. Petersburg teen who was seven months pregnant was fatally injured in a crash Sunday night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

The incident took place at 9:11 p.m. on Little Road south of Hudson Avenue. The teen, Emily Pearson, was a passenger in a in a 1997 Ford Ranger pickup truck driven by James Dunn, 19, also of St. Petersburg, the FHP said.

The Ford Ranger was headed north in the inside lane of Little Road. Then the FHP said that Margaret Wallace, 75, of Hudson, exited a private drive in a 1997 Nissan Maxima.

Wallace struck the passenger side of the pickup truck, according to the FHP said. Dunn was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries. But troopers said Pearson was not seatbelted. She was taken to St. Joseph’s Hospital in Tampa for treatment of her injuries. That’s where she and her unborn baby were pronounced dead.

Wallace also wore her seatbelt and was not injured in the crash. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the FHP said. Charges may be pending.
