Spring Hill man killed in Hernando motorcycle crash

SPRING HILL — A Spring Hill man was killed Tuesday after the motorcycle he was riding was struck by another vehicle, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to an FHP release, Michael Lucian Deleon, 26, was riding a 2001 GSX 1000 north on U.S. 19 at a high rate of speed. Joseph Firsching, 58, of Hernando Beach, was traveling southbound on U.S. 19 in a 2005 Toyota Camry.

At about 7:42 p.m., Firsching turned left at Breakwater Boulevard, into Deleon’s path, FHP said. As a result, Deleon struck Firsching’s car. He died at the scene.

Firsching was treated for minor injuries at Oak Hill Hospital.

FHP said Deleon was wearing a helmet and alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash.
