TAMPA — A 41-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured in a Monday night crash on Interstate 4, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash took place at about 7:15 p.m. Cristobal Padilla, of Riverview, was riding a 2004 Suzuki motorcycle in the east outside lane of I-4, west of County Line Road, the FHP said.
As he changed lanes and to get into the middle lane, troopers said he struck the left rear of a 2018 Audi A6 driven by Christopher Marx, 47, of Palmyra, Pa.
Padilla, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the motorcycle and landed in the center media, the FHP said. He was taken to Lakeland Regional Health with what were reported to be critical injuries, the FHP said.
Marx was not injured. The FHP said alcohol played no role in the crash. Charges may be pending.
