Fichter receives continuance on Hillsborough child sex charges

A former teacher, sentenced to 22 years in prison last week after pleading guilty on 37 counts of having unlawful sexual contact with a minor in Polk County, has received a continuance on similar charges in Hillsborough County.

Jennifer Fichter, 30, who was not in court, was to have been sentenced by Hillsborough Circuit Judge Samantha Ward this morning.

The case was rescheduled for July 21 at 1:30 p.m., court officials said.

Fichter pleaded not guilty on June 17, 2014, to three counts of unlawful sexual activity with a minor in Hillsborough County, where investigators said some of the sex with the teens occurred near Plant City.
