WTR Pool and Grille brings ‘fun dining’ pool party scene to Tampa

Mike Piper has traveled to Las Vegas and Miami and enjoyed the fun, daytime, party pool scene that the two cities have to offer.

Now he aims to bring that same atmosphere to Tampa with a new dining and hang out spot.

WTR Pool & Grill opened on Sunday (June 17) in the space previously occupied by Beach Bar at 7700 W Courtney Campbell Causeway.

WTR updated the restaurant space and the outdoor recreation area now includes a modernized swimming pool, a 20-foot hot tub, several outdoor bars and 14 cabanas equipped with televisions, refrigerators and charging outlets.

"Tampa doesn’t really have anything to do during the daytime, not from the fun, party perspective that ties in to why everybody lives here which is to live on the waterfront and be by the water," said Piper, the head brand ambassador.

"So this is Tampa’s version."

The spot aims to serve Tampa and Clearwater residents and provide fun dining with seafood and American dishes like Gulf shrimp, grouper, fresh fruit and poolside signature cocktails from $10 to $30. Every Sunday WTR hosts pool parties.

The website also touts nighttime activities, including "Sunset Pool Parties" and special events featuring guest DJs. It aims to "create a more raucous opportunity" for guests to satisfy their "inner party animal."

On "Pay it Forward" Fridays, the waterfront venue will charge a $20 cover from 4-6 p.m. with all proceeds going to a different charity. The special will include free signature cocktails.

WTR operates from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the restaurant, and for the pool from 4 to 11 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and Sundays.
