Grace Family Church gives thrift stores an upgrade in South Tampa

A new resale store has made its way to South Tampa.

Grace Family Church recently opened Vintage Etc., to provide affordable, quality merchandise to the community and continue its outreach to help families in need in a loving Christian environment.

"We want to do this in excellence," said Ann Morrick, the retail manager for Vintage Etc.

"Grace Family Church is real big on outreach. Itís not about the sale. The sale will come. Itís about loving on the customers."

Morrick says thrift stores can hold a negative connotation, but Vintage Etc. aims to change that perception. All of its donated items are cleaned and top name brands are authenticated before they hit the racks.

"The look of the store is totally different" Morrick said.

"The store doesnít look like a thrift store. The smell is different and it has a boutique area with high end brands like Louis Vuitton and more."

Not all of the items make it to the floor. The church sends some goods on mission trips to countries in Central and South America and the Caribbean. All proceeds go to the Dream Center of Tampa Bay and support other church missions.

Vintage Etc. takes thrifting a step further by offering an anonymous prayer box at the register to not only supply clothing or furniture for those in need, but prayer as well.

"Itís a complete circle," Morrick said. "Our job is within the field of love."

The store accepts a variety of items and offers 80-90 percent discounts on a variety of items including furniture, clothing, linen, music and movies, electronics, jewelry and artwork.

Vintage Etc. operates 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, and they are located at 4479 W Gandy Blvd.
