A headless Ursula terrifies kids at Disney California Adventure

As the evil antagonist in 1989’s "The Little Mermaid," Ursula the octopus is a terrifying character all by herself.

That terror rose to an entirely new level on Sunday when a headless animatronic Ursula still performed in character at the Little Mermaid ride at Disney California Adventure.

On Twitter, @dizzzymissy was among a few who posted video of Ursula, as a child could be heard saying "it’s broken" in the background."

According to the Huffington Post, the person who shot that video — who wished to remain unnamed — said children there were visibly upset.

"Immediately after we got off we were ushered out along with everyone else, and the employees looked very concerned," she told Huffington Post. "Many people had seen Ursula decapitated, including kids who understandably were upset."

"It was a pretty freaky thing to see."

It may not have been a joke to children who may have been traumatized, but it provided quite a bit of humor on social media.

Ursula’s headless performance was not the only mishap at a Disney park. On Sunday, a similar fate befell an auctioneer at the Pirates of the Caribbean exhibit at Disneyland Paris Park

This is what folks at the Little Mermaid attraction would have seen had Ursula kept her head on straight.
