The Dollyrots’ Kelly Ogden talks Hollywood exposure, returning home to Tampa and more

Rock stardom took the Dollyrots around the world — major festivals, TV appearances, advice sessions from luminaries like Joan Jett.

What brought them back to Tampa?

Kids.

"The actual moving-away process was bittersweet," said singer and bassist Kelly Ogden, who co-founded the band with fellow Land O' Lakes native (and future husband) Luis Cabezas in the early 2000s. "We felt like this could be the end of our band, of our way of life, of our musical career. We had a brand-new baby and were leaving our friends, industry contacts and the community of artists we made music with. But we felt it was time to return home."

When the Dollyrots play the Attic in Ybor City on Friday, it'll be their first true hometown show in nearly a decade. Click here for details.
