We're officially living in a world owned by Toto's Africa.
The 1982 hit seems to keep finding new, more vibrant life online every day. The most recent example: Weezer's fan-mandated cover version, which this week actually landed on Billboard's Hot 100 as the band's biggest hit in a decade.
Now you, too, will get the chance to bless the rains down in Africa when Toto comes to Clearwater this fall.
The Grammy-winning band will bring their 40th anniversary "40 Trips Around the Sun" tour to Ruth Eckerd Hall on Oct. 24, the venue announced today. Tickets start at $43.25 and go on sale at noon Friday. Click here for details.
While Africa is the song of the moment right now on social media — actually, it's basically the song of the moment anytime it comes on — Toto's got a pretty strong legacy beyond that one hit, including songs like Rosanna, Hold the Line and I Won't Hold You Back. Their Toto IV won the Grammy for Album of the Year, and they contributed quite a bit to Michael Jackson's Thriller.
As sure as Kilimanjaro rises like Olympus above the Serengetti, you know you want to see this show.
