Diana C. Nearhos’ takeaways from Thursday’s Lightning-Islanders game

It was nice to have Sonya Bryson back at Amalie Arena, singing the national anthem for Military Appreciation Night. The performance was made even more special as she was joined by fellow veteran Robert McClintock, a few days shy of his 100th birthday, and gave him a short solo.

Home sweet home is good to the Lightning. It went into the game tied atop the league with the Bruins in goal differential at home, plus-13. That was more than double the Lightning's overall goal differential of plus-6.

Old habits die hard. The Lightning broke its streak of giving up the first goal vs. the Oilers on Tuesday, but it was back to its old ways Thursday. The Islanders' Josh Bailey scored the first goal, and inside of the first five minutes.
