Having won only twice all time in Minnesota, the Lightning needed to start fast to quiet the crowd in what coach Jon Cooper called one of the three toughest NHL buildings in which to play. Ryan Callahan accomplished that with his goal in the first three minutes.
Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy and Wild penalties kept Minnesota from turning a dominant second period into a multigoal one. Vasilevskiy made multiple saves he probably shouldn't have been able to make. The Wild killed its momentum twice in crucial moments with penalties. The Lightning didn't score on either power play.
Yanni Gourde continues to provide a spark on offense. He extended his point streak to five games with a first-period goal, and he added an assist on Anton Stralman's third-period goal that tied the score at 4. Gourde went into the game with two goals and three assists.
