Help wanted

Feline Folks is in great need of feeders. Its volunteers feed feral cats in the community on a daily basis and without them the cats might go hungry. If you are an animal lover and can help even one day a month, a Feline Folks representative would love to talk to you. Food, training and support are provided.

The most urgent need is on Saturdays and Sundays.

Duplicate Bridge Club recognizes its own

Congratulations to Kathleen Smith, a Sun City Center resident since 2008, who recently traveled to Las Vegas where she graduated from the Teacher Accreditation Program. She also became a member of the American Bridge Teachers Association.

Smith began playing bridge in early 2009, when she took beginning bridge lessons from John Foster. By summer the same year she had joined the American Contract Bridge League and began playing duplicate bridge.

Kathy regularly directs duplicate bridge games here in Sun City Center and, thanks to her latest achievement, she will begin teaching students to play or improve their bridge games.

In October of 2013, Kathy and Sue Batt, president of the SCC Duplicate Bridge Association, started a class using an entirely new concept of teaching bridge. Under the ACBL trademark, EasyBridge! 1 has drawn many new players into this complex game and improved card playing and memory skills for all who have tried it. EasyBridge! 2 and 3 followed this past summer. This fall EasyBridge! 1 will be offered again for new players.

In other news, after playing in a Non-Life Master game, novices Liz Motola and Gail Neal placed first in sections A, B and C, a great achievement for new players.
