High pressure means low humidity, rain chances for Tampa area

A high-pressure system to the north will provide relief from the Tampa Bay region’s sticky humidity and afternoon downpours heading into the weekend.

Temperatures are starting off mild, and although the area will be under a light cloud cover this morning, there’s only a small chance of light showers along the coast this afternoon, News Channel 8 meteorologist Bryan Bennett said.

Highs will be near 90 under partly cloudy skies, with lows around 70.

Humidity will remain low through Friday, when the moisture in the atmosphere increases and drives rain chances up through the weekend.
