The Hendry Corp. on Thursday christened a new $3.5 million drydock at its 30-acre Port Tampa Bay facility. The 2,500-ton Captain F.M. Hendry Drydock, named after the company’s late founder, is capable of lifting tugs, barges and vessels out of the water for repairs, allowing the shipyard to repir and build larger ships.

The federal government provided a $1 million Assistance to Small Shipyard grant to facilitate the project.
