A day after strong morning storms flooded streets and resulted in a treacherous commute, conditions have eased around the Tampa Bay area – at least until this afternoon. A large mass of unsettled air in the Gulf of Mexico has created extra clouds, higher humidity, and will fuel above-average rain chances into the weekend, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said. Showers have developed off the coast, and after a mostly cloudy day, the rain should stream through the Tampa Bay area this afternoon. Rain chances are 50 percent later today with highs in the low- to mid-80s, and some of those storms could be strong. The rain will ease tonight, with lows in the mid- to upper-60s. Similar conditions will remain in effect through Saturday, with rain chances decreasing on Sunday and into next week.
