Typical afternoon thunderstorms return to Tampa area
After a soggy week and wet weekend, typical afternoon thunderstorms return to the Tampa Bay area this week. Skies are mostly clear this morning, but clouds will build this afternoon as the storms originate inland and push toward the coast later this afternoon thanks to an easterly sea breeze, News Channel 8 meteorologist Bryan Bennett said. There is a 50 percent chance of afternoon thunderstorms, with highs reaching 90 and the storms tapering off tonight. Similar conditions will continue throughout the week.
