Tampa area braces for rainy weekend as front moves in from south
Areas south of the Tampa began to see rain on Wednesday as bands from an area of low pressure move out of the Caribbean and into the Gulf. Some areas near Tampa should see increased clouds and isolated showers tonight, ahead of the system that will bring a 60 percent chance of rain Thursday and Friday, Storm Team 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said. The system, which has brought significant rainfall to South Florida, could result in periods of heavy rain starting Thursday afternoon that will last into the weekend. Some areas may see more than an inch of rain Thursday, Spann said.Highs will be in the upper 80s through the weekend, with lows in the mid- to-upper 70s.
