Meteorologist Jennifer Hill
You can catch Jennifer on the 6pm and 11pm weekend newscasts. Jennifer first discovered how interesting weather forecasting could be when earning her degree in Earth Sciences and Geography at the University of California, Santa Barbara. That’s also where she found out how to appreciate the beach. After college Jennifer then went on to earn her Broadcast Meteorology Degree from Mississippi State University.
Her first job was in the ski town of Bend, Oregon where she was the main anchor. There, she traded beach life for mountain life and spent a lot of winter weekends on the slopes and summers exploring mountain bike. The next stop in Jennifer’s career was the mountains of North Carolina in Asheville. Jennifer honed her skills there forecasting snowstorms, severe thunderstorms, and even hurricanes.
Now part of WFLA, she’s traded in her snow skis for water skis and is taking full advantage of the, as she calls it, “fabulous Florida weather”. She likes the WFLA environment and being part of the “converged” news and weather department. Her favorite part of working with The 8 On Your Side Storm Team, is tracking the daily thunderstorms.
When she’s not tracking severe storms or hurricanes you can find her water skiing, enjoying the beaches, or out on the road cycling. Jennifer lives in Tampa with her husband Michael. They have a lab mix they adopted from the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
