Remnants of Chantal will create wet, stormy weekend in Tampa
Chantal may no longer be a named storm, but her remnants could have a serious impact on Tampa Bay's weather this weekend. Coastal showers are forming, and a southeasterly wind is creating a muggy start to the day, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said. Those storms will push inland throughout the day, driving rain chances to 60 percent with highs near 90. The remnants of Chantal will arrive on Florida's east coast on Saturday, bringing tropical rain with scattered showers and possible downpours through the weekend that could result in localized flooding,Conditions are expected to clear by Monday, with the return of more typical summertime afternoon thunderstorms.
