What Arctic blast?
While much of the country is gripped with brutal cold, treacherous roads and blinding snow, the Tampa Bay area is basking in a warm spell that could bring record heat this week.
While today’s high of 81 will flirt with a record for Tampa, Thursday and Friday are forecast to either tie or break the marks.
Thursday will be even warmer, with sunny skies and a forecast high of 84 that would match the record set in Tampa in 1972. Same with Friday, which would break the mark of 83 set in 2001, and into the weekend.
And those temperatures will include higher humidity and sunny skies that might be welcomed in May, when thoughts turn to the beach, but not when we’re looking at Christmas lights in T-shirts and shorts.
This, while our friends and relatives in the Plains and in the western half of the country are dealing with a wintry storm that’s bringing bitterly cold weather and temperatures 20 to 40 degrees below normal.
Where do you stand? Are you reveling in the fact we can work on our tans in between our Christmas shopping outings, or is it time for sweater weather to last through spring?
