Rainy commute, then cool week as front pushes through Tampa area
Clouds and rain are streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico as a cold front pushes through the Tampa Bay area today, causing a wet morning commute before skies clear and temperatures fall heading into the weekend. Periods of heavy rain and a few isolated thunderstorms are possible as the front passes through the south, with clearing from the north this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. Highs today will reach the upper-60s to low-70s under mostly cloudy skies and a 50 percent chance of rain. Lows tonight will fall to the upper-40s to low-50s with clearing skies and winds shifting to the northwest. Wednesday will be mostly sunny, but with highs again only reaching the low-70s with cool northerly breezes, and lows in the upper-40s to low-50s.The cool temperatures will last through the weekend, when a warming trend drives temperatures closer to 80 by Saturday.
