Tampa Bay area residents are in for a wet commute as a cold front approaches from the Gulf of Mexico, bringing showers and cooler temperatures Thursday.
Light rain is pushing in from the Gulf and heading east, and will last through the afternoon, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
The front will pass the immediate Tampa Bay area around 3 p.m, and push south and east, producing spotty showers and cloudy skies tonight.
Highs today will reach the upper-70s, with lows in the low-50s.
A second cold front, which will dip from the north on Thursday, will keep highs in the low- to mid-60s but under sunny skies, with chilly lows in the low- to mid-40s on Thursday night.
The region quickly warms up, with highs back in the low-70s by Friday.
