Heat, humidity will help fuel thunderstorms in Tampa area
Summer-like conditions are in full effect in the Tampa Bay area as increased heat and humidity will help fuel a chance for afternoon thunderstorms leading to the weekend. Gusty winds from the east will provide some relief as temperatures will climb to near 90 all week with clouds building throughout the day, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said. Those winds will help drive isolated storms, which will form mainly inland, to the west this afternoon. Lows tonight will drop into the low-70s.Similar conditions will prevail through the week.
