Hot and sticky, but slim rain chances for Tampa area

Westerly winds off the Gulf of Mexico will keep things warm and sticky around the Tampa Bay region, but will keep rain chances down — until this weekend.

Rain chances are just 20 percent today, mainly east of Interstate 75 starting early this afternoon, and pushing to the east later today, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

Highs will be in the low-90s.

Winds will shift from the east later this week, creating higher rain chances this weekend.
