The Tampa Bay area’s recent run of chilly weather will extend into Saturday morning’s Gasparilla festivities, but with some warm relief in time for the afternoon pirate invasion.
Today, the region is under a wind chill advisory until 10 a.m., and freeze warnings are in effect north of Citrus count as a cold front is generating strong winds andchilly conditions.
Temperatures are starting out in the mid-30s this morning, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said, and highs this afternoon will struggle to reach the mid- to upper-50s as a thin layer of clouds will keep the cold conditions intact. Lows will drop into the mid- to upper-30s.
That wintry feel will continue Saturday morning, with temperatures starting out in the upper-30s. However, a quick warm-up will make for a pleasant Saturday afternoon for the 2 p.m. parade, as afternoon highs will climb into the mid-60s under pleasant conditions.
A light jacket may be needed Saturday night, with lows dropping only to near 50, and the warm trend continues into early next week.
