An approaching cold front will stall over the Tampa Bay area, producing a potentially wet weekend and soggy Gasparilla road races.
A strong line of showers is heading to the region just off the Gulf of Mexico, bringing a 60 percent chance of scattered showers and highs near 80, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Lows will drop into the low-60s.
The front will weaken as it approaches Tampa, but will stall over the region on Saturday. Some patchy fog is possible in the morning, and temperatures will be mild again, in the low-70s with a stray shower possible for the 7 a.m. start of the 15k Distance Classic.
Highs on Saturday will be around 79, with a 40 percent chance of scattered showers.
Rain chances remain at 20 percent on Sunday.
