Today will be another steamy, muggy day around the Tampa Bay region, before strong afternoon storms arrive, setting the stage for a soggy Thursday but a pleasant weekend.
The extra moisture in the air will create extra clouds, which will build around noon as the rain begins streaming in from the east, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Storms will form inland early this afternoon and push west toward the coast later today into this evening.
There is a 60 percent chance of storms today, with highs around 91.
A front will approach from the west on Thursday, keeping more widespread rain in the forecast into Friday.
After the front passes, though, temperatures will cool, with highs this weekend in the low- to mid-80s under mostly sunny skies.
