Students returning to school today should have a dry wait at the bus stop, but may have to play indoors this afternoon.
Temperatures will reach the low 90s today, but with slightly lower humidity to start, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
Clouds will begin to build early this afternoon, with the storms building in inland areas and pushing west toward the coast tonight.
Rain chances are 50 percent today, with the strongest storms becoming stronger later today as they drift west.
The rain will taper off later tonight, and similar conditions will be in effect through the middle of the week.
