A cold front that passed through the Tampa Bay region has brought just that — a chilly morning, followed by cooler temperatures today and more rain heading into the weekend.
Some areas to the north are starting off in the 40s, and highs today will only reach the mid-70s under partly cloudy skies, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.
The brisk feel will be magnified by strong northerly winds, with gusts near 25 mph in some places, and there is a small chance for a stray shower later today.
That front, however, will lift back to the north beginning tonight, bringing cloudy skies and increasing rain chances tonight.
An area of low pressure in the Gulf also will drift onshore by Friday. Rain chances are 90 percent, and the rain will carry over into Saturday before clearing on Easter Sunday.
