Another dry, scorching August day around Tampa area

The Tampa Bay area faces yet another stretch of dry, scorching conditions, before increased moisture brings a higher rain chance later this week.

Temperatures will reach 88 by noon, and climb to near-record highs of 93 — with a heat index in the low 100s — under mostly sunny skies, News Channel 8 meteorologist Leigh Spann said.

There’s only a 20 percent chances for an isolated storm today, with lows in the mid- to upper-70s.

Rain chances will increase to 30 percent on Wednesday, before building moisture means a much higher possibility for afternoon thunderstorms by Thursday.
