High chance of showers, muggy conditions for Tampa Bay throughout weekend
It’s shaping up to be a warm and muggy weekend across the bay area with rain chances staying around 60 percent through the weekend.
Much of the expected precipitation is coming to the area thanks to the combination of a southwestern flow bringing showers and storms across the Gulf of Mexico and a frontal boundary that dropped into southern Georgia, pooling moisture along the Florida-Georgia line.
Conditions are expected to remain similar through the weekend, according to the National Weather Service. Early showers with pockets of heavier rain will make its way in from the coast with chances of scattered storms further inland. However, the greatest chance for storms will remain north toward the Nature Coast.
Cloud cover will keep temperatures hovering just below 90, but will also ramp up humidity.
If you’re looking for a way to escape some of the weekend moisture, there are plenty of indoor activities happening, such as the Tampa Theatre’s Top Gun-themed beer fest and Metrocon at the Tampa Convention Center. There’s also a swimsuit bar crawl happening in Ybor City Saturday afternoon, which could help ease some wet weather woes.
