Iraqis handed a defeat to terrorism by voting in large numbers in landmark elections but there were concerns about the low turnout among the Sunni Arab minority. Iraq's electoral commission said it believed, based on anecdotal information, that turnout among the estimated 14 million eligible voters was higher than the 57 percent that had been predicted.

BAGHDAD, Iraq - American forces captured a bearded Saddam Hussein as he hid in the cellar of a farmhouse near his hometown of Tikrit, ending one of the most intensive manhunts in history. The arrest, eight months after the fall of Baghdad, was carried out without a shot fired and was a huge victory for U.S. forces.

TAMPA - Howard Hall and Daniel Sacher-Brown returned from the war changed men. Hall was part of the thundering charge to Baghdad, where he and his unit were hailed by many Iraqis. Sacher-Brown reluctantly went to Kuwait, where he cleaned bathrooms, picked up garbage and washed steel containers until injuring his back, leaving him bent and bitter.
