Top Tampa Bay fun this weekend: Halloween Horror Nights, FAMU Tampa Classic

SCARE: Halloween Horror Nights

The biggest theme park scare party, Halloween Horror Nights, jumps out this weekend and will run on select nights through Nov. 4, a record-long run for Universal Orlando. Leatherface will wield his favorite weapon in a living version of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and there is a new maze this year based on The Shining. It opens at 6:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday. Universal Orlando, 6000 Universal Blvd., Orlando. Tickets run $69.99-$80.99, and get more expensive closer to Halloween. Toll-free 1-888-467-7677.

Football: FAMU Tampa Classic

While football games across the state were canceled this week, Raymond James Stadium will be the site of three games this weekend: University of South Florida will meet Illinois on Friday, the FAMU Tampa Classic game Saturday and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers open their delayed NFL season on Sunday against the Chicago Bears. For Saturday's battle between the Florida A&M University Rattlers and the Tennessee State University Tigers, all first responders will be given free tickets, along with their families. Donations for relief efforts will also be accepted. The FAMU game brings with it high-stepping field shows by the Marching 100 and the Aristocrat of Bands. $29-$139. Raymond James Stadium, 4201 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. (813) 350-6500.
