Sugar Sand Festival: Master sculptors have been invited to turn nearly 1,000 tons of powdery, white sand into elaborate characters and scenes.This yearís theme is "Sea America: A Celebration of Americaís Treasures," that will be lined up in an exhibit in a 21,000 square-foot tent. There will also be sand sculpting classes, a giant sandbox, concerts, buskers and fireworks. 10 a.m., Pier 60, 10 Pier 60 Drive, Clearwater Beach. $10, $8 ages 55 and older, $6 ages 6-17, 5 and younger free. Hernando County Fair and Youth Livestock Show and Sale: This yearís "Good Ole American Fair" themed event includes family, school and forestry exhibits, midway rides, musical performances, games, contests, livestock shows, magic shows, Lego demonstration, pony rides, petting zoo, banana derby (dog and monkey show) and food vendors. Ride armbands available daily. SunLit Festival: Peter and the Wolf: This spring time celebration of literature connects literary circles with other arts and cultural endeavors. The St. Petersburg Ballet Company presents the tale of a Russian boy who joins his friends to hunt for a wolf. Free.
