Audubon Society Plans To Elect Officers May 19

TAMPA - The Tampa Audubon Society will elect officers at its May 19 meeting, which is part of a field trip to Crystal Springs Preserve near Zephyrhills.
Rob Heath of Audubon and Debbie Butts, of the Suncoast Native Plant Society will present a workshop about landscaping yards for wildlife, and guests will view the gardens. The program starts at 9 a.m.
The nominees for board members are Heath and Ann Paul, co-presidents; Andrea College, recording secretary; Susan Burtnett, corresponding secretary; Stanley M. Kroh, treasurer; and Christine Malzone, Michael Turrisi, Joe Bailey and John Costin, board members at large.

DAR To Install Officers At Meeting
UT CAMPUS - The DeSoto Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution will install its 2007-08 officers at its meeting Friday at the Little Red School House on the University of Tampa campus.
Annie-Kate Carpenter and Janet Rockey will serve refreshments at 12:15 p.m. At 1 p.m., member Creeda Antinori will give a presentation about the George Washington portrait that the chapter donated to Ballast Point Elementary School.
Officers to be installed are Nancy Watkins, regent; Edna Broyles, vice regent; Janet Rockey, second vice regent; Mary Wade, chaplain; Jamie Undercuffler, recording secretary; Ann Dunlap, corresponding secretary; JoAnn Hamby, treasurer; Virginia Green, registrar; Dee Dorman, historian; and Alice Funk, librarian.

Orchid Society Holding Plant Auction
SEMINOLE HEIGHTS - The Tampa Bay Orchid Society will hold its annual plant auction at its May 17 meeting.
The free event at Seminole Garden Center, 5800 N. Central Ave., is open to the public. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the auction is at 7:30 p.m.

Pan Am Women To Induct Members
YBOR CITY - Pan American University Women will induct new members and install officers at its May 19 end-of-the-club-year luncheon.
The luncheon will be at the Columbia Restaurant, 2117 E. Seventh Ave. Registration is at 11 a.m., and the lunch at noon.
New members are Loretta Beitia, Elaine Blanco, Jennifer Dabbs, Dana Rosa Favata, Anna Marie Ippolito, JoAnn Quinn, Dianne Rivera, Jodi Rivera, Everedith Torres and Shirley Zigler.
Incoming officers are Nuri Ayers, president; Judy Blanco, president-elect; Tana Levinson, vice president; Sylvia Albritton, recording secretary; Diana Fernandez, corresponding secretary; Rose Ann Cuervo, treasurer; Ray Ann Favata, parliamentarian; Grace Ippolito, sergeant-at-arms; Vilma Riesgo, chaplain; Leslie Menendez, historian; and Angela Gould, ex-officio. Gould is the outgoing president.
Mothers will be given a carnation in honor of Mother's Day. Charter members Ligia Artal, Mary Caltagirone, Sara Capitano, Rosalie McDaniel and Angie Noto will be recognized.
Tampa Police Chief To Address Republicans
TAMPA - Tampa Chief of Police Steven Hogue will speak at Monday's meeting of the Tampa Republican Club.
The event, open to all registered Republicans, will be Sam Seltzer's Steakhouse, 4744 N. Dale Mabry Highway. Social time is 6 p.m.; dinner is at 6:30 p.m.

Wine-Tasting Set For Thursday
TAMPA - Author Doris Weatherford will be the speaker at the 11{+t}{+h} annual wine-tasting, sponsored by the Women's Organization for Medical Emergency Needs, a nonprofit organization that assists women and girls with reproductive health care costs.
The event will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Vintage Wine Cellars, 3629 Henderson Blvd.

Identity Theft Topic At Rotary
TAMPA PALMS - Joe Malinowski, an identity theft risk management specialist at Pre-Paid Legal Services, will speak at Friday's meeting of the Rotary Club of New Tampa at 7 a.m. at the Tampa Palms Golf & Country Club, 5811 Tampa Palms Blvd.
H.E. Jamsheed Marker, who has 35 years in diplomatic service, will speak at 7 a.m. May 18 at the country club on "World Peace and Pakistan."
