New Principals For 2 Schools
Published: May 10, 2008
NORTH TAMPA - Two area schools will open the next school year with new leaders.
The Hillsborough County school board appointed principals Tuesday for Pizzo Elementary and Tampa Bay Technical High.
Pamela Wilkins, assistant principal at Maniscalco Elementary, will become the leader for Pizzo. She replaces Sheryl Marceaux, who will become the principal of Kimbell Elementary, opening in August in Temple Crest.
"I'm looking forward to returning to Pizzo," Wilkins said. "I'm looking forward to being part of the staff and the partnerships" with the University of South Florida and the Museum of Science & Industry.
Wilkins began her employment with the school district in 1992 as a teacher at Miles Elementary. She became a teacher at Foster Elementary a year later. In 1998, she was appointed an exceptional student education specialist at Foster. Three years later, she moved to the same position at Pizzo Elementary. She became assistant principal at Maniscalco in 2004.
Warren Brooks, an assistant principal at Tampa Bay Technical High, will become the new principal. He replaces Chris Farkas, who is becoming the principal at Freedom High.
"I'm happy to be continuing the tradition of excellence at the school and being able to be part of some of the really neat things we do out there," Brooks said.
Brooks began teaching in 1994 at Leto High. Brooks also taught at Armwood and Durant high schools. In 2002, he was appointed an assistant principal at Durant. He transferred three years later to Tampa Bay Technical.
Wilkins and Brooks will begin their new positions July 1.
