Office Supply Store Opens

TAMPA PALMS - New Tampa's first office supply superstore opened Saturday at the Market Square shopping center.

Staples joins BJ's Wholesale Club, Bed Bath & Beyond and CVS as the first retailers to fill the shopping center south of the Interstate 75/Bruce B. Downs Boulevard interchange. PetSmart, A.C. Moore Arts & Crafts and Ross will open soon.

The New Tampa store is the chain's sixth in Hillsborough County. Store manager Carla Wilson said the new Staples will host the Greater Temple Terrace Chamber of Commerce on May 14. A grand opening is scheduled for June 21.

Tom Stemberg, a former supermarket executive, opened the first Staples 22 years ago in the Boston area. Now, the company operates more than 2,000 stores worldwide and has 76,000 employees.
