A rollin’ wagon of waggin’

Pet matchmakers found homes for seven dogs during a recent adoption event at Volkswagen of New Port Richey in Holiday.

The Tail Wagon mobile pet adoption van ferried dogs from the Pasco County Animal Services adoption center in Land O’ Lakes.

The shelter was overcrowded with 144 dogs a few weeks ago, so the county’s Tail Wagon brings dog to areas across Pasco to help the animals get adopted.

The Tail Wagon is scheduled to stop from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday at Earth Day festivities at Crews Lake Wilderness Park.

Other pet welfare groups brought dogs to the event, including Hands & Paws for Pasco and Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida.

Bob Groezinger, a volunteer for Labrador Retriever Rescue, bid farewell to 6-year-old Arthur, who will head to a new home.

The dog breeds included Labradors, Pekingese, whippet, boxers, English bulldogs and pitbulls.

The pet groups verify background information to ensure adopters can provide a good home for the animals.
